Affiliate disclosure
Hakone Day Trip takes part in the GetYourGuide affiliate programme. Book a tour or a pass through a link on this site and GetYourGuide pays me a commission. You pay the same price you would have paid going to them directly.
How it works
The booking links and the availability widgets here all go to GetYourGuide, a licensed online travel agency. Every one of them carries the same partner id. If you book after clicking one, they pay me a small percentage of what you spent. Nothing is added to your price and nothing is withheld from you if you go direct instead.
What it does not change
Ratings and review counts on this site are read from each activity’s own product data, not chosen by me, and I have not reordered anything to put a better-paying product in front of you. The eight products are listed cheapest first, which is the opposite of what commission would suggest.
The honest test of that is the reviews page. It carries a tour rated 4.0, written up in detail, with a section explaining what to book instead. It also recommends the ¥7,100 Freepass over the ¥24,000 coach day for most people, and sends anyone who only wants the gondola to a ¥2,000 ticket. If commission drove the writing, none of that would be here.
What I am not paid for
No operator has paid for a mention, a placement or a rating on this site, and none has seen a page before it went up. Where I link to an official source, such as live ropeway status, that link earns nothing and exists because it is the right answer.
Questions about any of this go to contact, and if you would rather see what the money actually buys, start with what a day really costs.
